How much do you love your local theatre?

Poster for the #loveyourlocaltheatre campaign

Ahead of the Olivier Awards in London in April, the national Love Your Local Theatre campaign wants to celebrate the role of theatres across the UK.

The campaign organisers are inviting audiences to share what their local theatre means to them - by posting a video, image or graphic.

Every post shared using the hashtag #LoveYourLocalTheatre will be entered in a prize draw to win two tickets to the Oliviers, a two-night stay at The May Fair (sic) Hotel and £500 in Theatre Tokens.

Blackpool's Grand Theatre is one venue backing the campaign in a big way and to help inspire audiences has created a short film, Echoes of a Living Stage, for the campaign; it's a heartfelt celebration of the magic, memories and moments that shape a theatre and the community around it. Watch it here.

Head of audiences, marketing and sales at the theatre, Andrew Howard, said: “Blackpool Grand is woven into life across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre: first trips to the pantomime, school visits, family traditions, nights out with friends; shows that stay with you long after the curtain falls.

"We’d love people to share what the theatre means to them, and be part of celebrating theatres nationwide through #LoveYourLocalTheatre.”

Olivier award-winning actor Adrian Lester said: “Local theatres enrich British culture. My own journey began with Birmingham Youth Theatre at the Midland Arts Centre and Birmingham Rep, which gave me opportunities that shaped the course of my career. These, and many venues across the UK, continue to do the same for generations of artists today.”

To enter, simply post a video, image or graphic on social media with the hashtag #LoveYourLocalTheatre by 11.59pm on March 5.
