Bolton’s Octagon Theatre, Salford's Lowry, Keswick's Theatre by the Lake and The Dukes, Lancaster are to join a number of venues in presenting a new digital production of The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Dunkirk actor Fionn Whitehead will play the title role in a contemporary reimagining of Oscar Wilde’s classic novel co-produced by the Barn Theatre, Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield, New Wolsey Theatre, Theatre Clywd and Oxford Playhouse.
The Picture of Dorian Gray will push the theatrical form, using multiple forms such as radio, film, documentary and traditional theatrical styles.
Set in a social media-obsessed world in which online and real life blur, "influencer" Dorian Gray makes a deal for his online social star never to fade. But as his mental health starts to decline, the true cost of his deal is revealed.
The production will reunite the creative team behind the critically acclaimed digital production of What a Carve Up! written by Henry Filloux-Bennett and directed by Tamara Harvey.
The production will run internationally from March 16-31 and tickets are on sale here (Bolton), here (Keswick), here (Lowry), here (Dukes), here (Theatr Clwyd), and here (Lawrence Batley Theatre).
Note that tickets are the same, whichever theatre you obtain them from.
