The national tour of smash-hit play Quiz starring Rory Bremner has added three more names to the cast.

Joining comedy impressionist and actor Rory – who stars as Who Wants To Be a Millionaire host Chris Tarrant – are Emmerdale star Charley Webb, in her first professional stage role, and Lewis Reeves, who is best known as DC Jake Collier in the ITV drama Unforgotten.

The pair play Charles and Diana Ingram, and are joined by another well-known TV face, Mark Benton – who has appeared on our TVs in many shows since the 1990s.

Quiz is the entertaining fictional ride through the infamous "Coughing Major" scandal that engulfed the world’s most popular TV quiz show.

In 2001 Charles Ingram, his wife Diana and another would-be contestant, Tecwen Whittock, were accused of cheating, when Whittock coughed or sneezed to mark the correct answer as contestant Ingram read out the four possibilities.

If you are struggling to recall the incident, it's because the episode never aired. The participants were charged with deception and the prize withdrawn.

The story remains a mystery – and had over six million people glued to their TVs in 2020 to watch the ITV adaptation starring Michael Sheen, Matthew Macfadyen and Sian Clifford.

Now, uncovering new evidence, it’s time to ask new audiences to put fingers on keypads and answer the ultimate "50/50": guilty or not guilty?

Nominated for two Olivier Awards including Best New Comedy, James Graham’s smash hit play transferred to London’s West End with sensational reviews in 2018, following a sold-out run at Chichester's Festival Theatre. Quiz now returns to Chichester before embarking on a nine-week UK tour from September to December, stopping in the north at Newcastle Theatre Royal (October 3-7) and Salford's Lowry (October 24-28).
