Ellie Leach – reigning champion of Strictly Come Dancing - will make her stage acting debut as Miss Scarlett in the 2024 UK tour of Cluedo 2. Northern dates include York Theatre Royal (March 12-16), The Lowry in Salford (April 2-6); Hull New Theatre (April 9-13); Sheffield Lyceum (May 14-18).
Ellie waltzed her way to victory in December to win the Strictly Glitterball Trophy. It's not a dancer-to-actress story, though, for while Ellie hasn't acted on a professional stage before, prior to Strictly she played Faye Windass in Coronation Street for 13 years and was nominated for several acting awards. She replaces Helen Flanagan, who was advised to leave the tour for medical reasons.
She said: “After an incredible year, I’m so excited to join Cluedo 2 in my stage acting debut as Miss Scarlett.”
Based on the classic whodunnit board game, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, Cluedo 2 also stars Jason Durr (Casualty, Heartbeat) as Colonel Mustard. Jason said: “I was a huge fan of the board game as a child and the colonel is such a great character."
As the bodies pile up, the classic colourful characters - The Honourable Mrs Emerald Peacock, Colonel Eugene Mustard, ‘Professor’ Alex Plum, Miss Annabel Scarlett, ‘The Reverend’ Hal Green and housekeeper Mrs White - move from room to room trying to escape the murderer and survive the night.
