TV bad boy Marc Baylis will strut with equally-evil intent this Christmas when he plays the outrageously egotistical bad guy, Hugo, in Blackpool Grand panto Beauty and the Beast (December 5- January 4).

As the murderous Rob Donovan, Marc swindled, seduced and schemed - well, and murdered - his way through Coronation Street, on and off from 2012 until earlier this year, for which he was nominated as "best newcomer" and "best actor" at the National Television Awards and Inside Soap Awards. On Corrie he finally ended up behind bars, and now trades cobbles for a castle as he steps into the very shiny boots of the bicep-flexing bad guy determined to win the heart of gentle village girl Belle. Whether she likes it or not…

Marc said: “I'm thrilled to be playing the gloriously villainous Hugo. He’s got muscles, a mirror and not a shred of shame: what’s not to love?

"Getting to cause mayhem on stage in Blackpool has always been on my bucket list; and now I get to do it with Steve Royle, this year's UK Pantomimes best panto comic. What could possibly go wrong? Bring on the boos, the laughs and the chaos."

Award-winning Steve Royle added: “I’ve already warned Marc that if he upstages me with those cheekbones and biceps, we’re going to have a problem! He's the perfect Hugo – all swagger, smoulder, and just the right amount of villainy. I can’t wait to see audiences boo him."
