A spongier seabed for a Blackpool summer

Tony Award-nominated show The Spongebob Musical will tour the UK next year.

The run begins in Southampton in April and carries on until September - taking in the Bradford Alhambra (April 18-22), Manchester Opera House (May 16-20) and Blackpool Opera House (June 13-17) along the way.

When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must team up to save the fate of their undersea world!

The new production features the TV show's favourite characters, bright choreography and colourful costumes.

The show is based on the series by Stephen Hillenburg and features a long list of original songs specially written by some of rock's greatest names, from gospel queen Yolanda Adams to Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, The Flaming Lips, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend and even David Bowie (who died the year after the project was announced).
