Following a highly-successful debut at Liverpool's Royal Court Theatre, writer/performer Victoria Oxley's debut play Stayin' Alive arrives at Manchester's under-the-arches city centre fringe venue 53Two (February 5-6).
Presented by the writer's newly-formed One Madam Productions and Girl Gang Manchester, this two hander - described by Merseyside audiences as a “Scouse Fleabag” - is said to be a love letter to working men's pubs, complicated families and managing to find laughter in the messiest corners of grief, all inspired by Oxley’s own experiences with mental health and close relationship with her grandmother.
Performed by Oxley and directed by Megan Marie Griffith - the artistic director of Girl Gang - the play was commissioned through Liverpool Unity Theatre’s talent development programme.
It's Girl Gang Manchester’s first production in its 10th anniversary year and brings together two independent, North West institutions committed to community-centred, values-led and artist-driven work.
Each performance includes a limited number of “pay as you feel” tickets, starting at £5.
