Comedy legend Steve Coogan is to interview children’s author and screenwriter Frank Cottrell Boyce at Shakespeare North Playhouse.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of 24 Hour Party People, the movie comedy drama about Manchester's Factory Records - written by Frank and starring Steve - and the pair will get together on February 4 to mark the anniversary in an evening of reminiscences and revelations.
Coogan, born and raised in Manchester, is best known for iconic British comedy institution Alan Partridge, while Frank is an award-winning author and screenwriter whose books have been shortlisted for a multitude of prizes. The pair have worked together on several projects, most recently the ITV drama Stephen, about the Stephen Lawrence police investigation.
Steve says: “Frank is one of my favourite people, so I jumped at the chance to talk to him about his life and work. ”
Frank added: "We can promise you an evening of wisdom, insight... and funny voices."
Before chatting to Steve, Frank will first host an evening with popular actress and television presenter Angela Griffin on January 28.
The playhouse’s An Evening with features operate a relay system, in which an interviewed celebrity goes on to interview another celebrity. Previous evenings in the series have included Johnny Vegas and Jimmy McGovern.
